This week was one for the books! Elder Vallejo and I did a lot of old fashioned missionary work...which meant lots of contacting. Mornings here are hard to work because most people are cooking and don´t want to be bothered, but we managed to find people and at the least practice my castellano a little bit more. It is starting to get cold here since winter is a few weeks away and there has been some pretty frigid days due to the humidity of the river and the cloudy and rainy days, but I have been staying warm eating empanadas. I know how to make them so if people want to due a FHE activity with me when I get back home making empanadas and other Argentine food, I would be honored haha
The highlight of the week was Sol. Not only was it nice to see the sol (sun) peek its way through the clouds to warm us up today, but we also met a wonderful woman named Sol. She was a reference from a member (Hermano Reyes) in my last area on the other side of town. The member is an American who served his mission in here 20 years ago but came back and got married and started his family as well. He still speaks English by the way, so it is great to talk to him about his crazy mission stories. Anyways, he had us over at his house to teach his friend from the college, named Sol. They share a typography class and he has been helping her through some tough times but letting her study at his house and being spiritual to her. We took a cole (bus) over there and tought about the Restoration, how God and Jesus Christ restored precious truths that were lost during thousands of years of apostacy through the prophet Joseph Smith. It was the best lesson that I have ever had in my mission! She expressed her desires to have the same spirit we do, to have that confirmation of the veracity of the Book of Mormon...never have I met anyone like this, other than myself when I was taking the lessons. She accepted an invitation to follow the savior and be baptized later this month, it was amazing! Hermano Reyes was telling me how she was ready, and he was right!
I have been trying to pray specifically for people while I am here on my mission, as well as setting goals and finding miracles along the way. And time and time again I have had my prayers answered by praying specifically, and I invite you all to do the same, especially if you are going through trials or need some form of confirmation in life. Getting on your knees and pouring your heart to God will not be in vain, I promise you that. If you take my advice this week, email me how the Lord blessed you or helped you, I want to know!
Love you all! Send me letters or packages pleasssseeeee (google missionary packages argentina for more info on care packages)
